The Miss Buffalo Scholarship Organization is very proud of our 2017 Miss Buffalo
Emmalee D. Stawicki
Emmalee Stawicki is a graduate of Richard J. Wehle School of Business and an alumnus of Canisius College-Accounting & A.I.S. Her educational aspirations include earning an MBA and passing the CPA Exam and become a Certified Public Accountant. The Miss Buffalo Scholarship competition is happy to help her reach these goals.
How has the world you come from shaped your dreams and aspirations?
“It is so hard for many to imagine coming from a family with six kids and two parents that love each other, especially in a time of frequent divorce and broken families. My family lives modestly, and my parents work hard and sacrifice so much to support a family of eight. Because of my family, and especially the influence my parents have had on me, my dreams and aspirations have transpired into the ultimate goal of having a hardworking, happy family one day. If I can be half the parent that my parents are, I would say I have succeeded in achieving this wonderful aspiration.”
What are some interesting facts about you?
“I am a paid Disney Princess. I am the eldest of 6 children ranging from 21 to 6. I once received a call from Donny Osmond. I’m certified by Safe Zone and QPR”
Of all the ways you could succeed in your life, why have you chosen to succeed in the Miss America Competition?
“I am already so humbled by all that I have accomplished in life and all that I have. I am blessed with a loving family, a great education, ample food, and shelter within a great community. By receiving a crown, I would have the opportunity to reach out to individuals who lack all that I have to be thankful for, and what so many take for granted.
Taking part in the Miss America competitions comes with great responsibilities and devotion to volunteering. Therefore, in addition to the great educational financial assistance I would be provided with, it will more importantly offer me the ability to positively impact those within and outside the community while fulfilling my duty of service.”
What Social issue, other than your platform, will have the greatest impact on your generation and why?
“Within our generation, the inclusion of the disabled is neglected. Study shows that nearly 1 of 5 civilians of the USA have a disability. With that being said, it is imperative that those with mental, physical, or emotional inhibitions are embraced by our nation with loving arms. We must also educate children on not only what the disabilities are, but also how to show acceptance and be inclusive of them. I strongly encourage those who are ignorant and insensitive of difference to reconsider, as disabilities are only becoming more prevalent and have greatly affected this generation.”
